Are You the Next Shot@Life Champion?

Here's an opportunity for you. It might change your life...but it with definitely save many lives!

YOU can become the next Shot@Life Champion!

What is Shot@Life?

Give a child a shot at building friendships
Shot@Life is a campaign of the UN Foundation that educates, connects and empowers Americans to champion vaccines as one of the most cost-effective ways to save the lives of children in developing countries. A national call to action for a global cause, the campaign rallies the American public, members of Congress, and civil society partners around the fact that together, we can save a child’s life every 20 seconds by expanding access to vaccines. By encouraging Americans to learn about, advocate for, and donate to vaccines, Shot@Life aims to decrease vaccine-preventable childhood deaths and give every child a shot at a healthy life and so many of the other milestones we take for granted...like losing a tooth, taking a first step, or making a friend.

Why did I become a Shot@Life Champion?

Because 1.5 million children die every year

Children are disabled or killed every year by vaccine-preventable diseases like pneumonia, diarrhea, measles and polio. Pneumonia and diarrhea are the two biggest killers of children under five, and account for more than one-third of childhood deaths worldwide. Polio has recently reemerged in areas that had been polio-free for years and measles still kills an estimated 450 people each day—the majority of whom are young children.

Because those deaths are totally preventable and totally unfair

Every child deserves a shot at a healthy life, no matter where they live. Yet 75% of unvaccinated kids live in just 10 countries. Vaccines are an especially important health intervention because they level the playing field for the most vulnerable children who are otherwise unlikely to make it to a doctor or a hospital. For these children, access to vaccines can mean the difference between life and death, a healthy life or a lifetime of struggle.

What does a Shot@Life Champion do?
We dedicate our voices, time, and support to stand up for childhood in developing countries. Champions represent a diverse group of moms, dads, students, and anyone who believes in the importance of vaccines. Champions receive training in media, advocacy, and event planning to become effective ambassadors for Shot@Life. Champions are leading a grassroots movement by teaching their community about the importance of global vaccines, organizing events to raise funds for United Nations programs on the ground, and meeting with their members of congress to encourage them to expand access to vaccines globally. You might find yourself doing interviews with a local newspaper or giving a presentation like Latanya Jones (@naturalmommy7) who gave this great presentation to Mocha Moms. She hit all the great talking points! Check it out: Latanya speaks to Mocha Moms in Houston.
